Wasaburou Watanabe is back with his third OOWETS project. Star Wave is a daydream-turned-night-dream trip down a collective memory lane.
Tracks like ‘OMW’ feature stress-meltingly charming bits and pieces of ear candy. Laid-back percussion permeates the whole project but shines on ‘Gold Dust,’ where it is given center stage and surrounded by an ensemble of syrupy synths and slice-of-life object jangling. ‘Warp Flower’ kicks in with a higher-than-average energy level but maintains the melty undercurrent well enough.
It’s a golden hour album full of inner ear massaging ASMR brightness, a real treat for background listening.🍍
