With his remix of Mary Lattimore’s ‘It Feels Like Floating,’ Jonsi stretches the fibers of the original song horizontally into a landscape that melts into an endless expanse like a world revealed in a drop of sweet molasses. The harmonies of Lattimore’s harp are emphasized while the harp itself is removed from the center of attention, and there are moments of disharmony that are imperfect like nature with a hint of deadly sublime, a meadow on the edge of a cliff. Jonsi’s voice rings out with his signature striking clarity, and the song becomes a vesper on the wind, somber in its worship, trailing off slowly with the decadence of an organ player processing from foreground to middle ground to background and, finally, beyond the vanishing point. ☔
