Well, Mike Lévy and his brain are back, this time working with Canadian misspeller Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye for the first time since 2018’s My Dear Melancholy. The pair’s latest effort, ‘Lost in the Fire’, is a thin, lukewarm cup of tea that was made with a Gesaffelstein flavored sachet that’d been used to steep 50 cups of tea beforehand, then paired with a lyrical narrative that’s tired and worn out at best and misogynistic and stereotypically homophobic at worst. If ‘Reset’ was an appetizer prelude to Lévy’s Hyperion, ‘Lost in the Fire’ is more akin to the glass of free water you get with the meal, though the glass is cracked, the water is cloudy, and there is a distinct taste of dish soap that lingers on the mouth.🍍
