The 20th anniversary of the French Pillar of Production Mr. Oizo’s internationally renown track, ‘Flat Beat,’ a track whose video is listed in Maxim’s list of the “Best Puppets in a Music Video,” has been commemorated down to the hour by the release of Rythme Plat. The four tracks on this most recent outing by Mr. Quentin “Oizo” Depieux exist within that viscous, heavy, raw Korg MS-20 wiring that make up the insides of Flat Eric, Depieux’s famous puppet. The musical fare is typical Oizo, smatterings of vocal interest, deep guttural synths, playfully-hard percussion, and maybe just a hint of the emotions and thoughts and sentiments that seep in through living in this rough-and-tumble 2019 timeline; it’s brushing perfection.🍍
