March 8, 2019 - Columbia
Here it is, the main course offered to us by Chef Lévy, Hyperion, and the best I can say is that it is short and it will be forgotten about, or at least it will provide contrast between the work that came before and the work that came after. It’s not about a shed identity or a change in sonic direction, the album simply feels cheap; the best moments in the 40ish minutes (10 of which occur in the final drag of a track ‘Humanity Gone’) feel like interesting ideas that still need some serious consideration and development. The rest of the project feels too much like B roll emulation attempts or, really, like someone wanted to make the soundtrack for Blade Runner 2049 but was rejected a quarter of the way into the composition. 🍍
