Superdiscoteca by Myd is a chill EP that casually mocks disco and the re-emergence of disco culture out of admiration. Myd is intentionally dissonant in his handling of the synths and the melodic plucking strings, which—along with intermittent echoes of his signature electronically high-pitched voice, clubby track titles, and moments of runaway-train melodies—keeps the emotional space stuck in the silly shallow end. Tongue-in-cheek like most of Myd’s oeuvre, the first track is good, but the EP overall falls flat like the feeling after a midsummer daydream. ☔
