‘Home’ comes to us amidst a string of self-released audio/visual pieces from the UK’s Elliot Adamson. Eventually we will be incorporating music video critiques to the blog’s agenda, but currently we only have enough interns to churn out audio critiques. I will say that the video is a nice black-and-white driving scene shot presumably in Adamson’s hometown and can be viewed here, but that is beside the point.
The track is comfortable, like a track that just woke up and wants to stay just 5 minutes more in its warm pillowy comforter on its slightly oversized bed. Somewhat shallow synths pluck along a main chord line and are joined by rolling pads and percussive elements that seem to be ebbing like the tide at dusk. Around the 1:30 mark, a slightly-echoed kick jumps in to remind us that this is, in fact, a dance track, and we should, in fact, be dancing and oh shit, was anybody looking? The elements flow into a more dissonant chord structure before giving way back to the original pattern.
Everything about this track is muted in a soothing sort of way, but we have a feeling it would really provide a real banging experience with both the right venue (dark, sweaty, exclusive) and the right volume (very loud). Adamson has been churning out similar A/V experiences on his YouTube channel of late, and if it’s any indicator of things to come, count us excited. 🍍
