Armand Jakobsson has slipped into his DJ Seinfeld skin to provide each and every one of us charter to an undisclosed, unadulterated, and definitely privately owned island.
We arrive on the edge of an endless ocean meeting the edge of an endless beach. We walk leisurely along the divide, sand and waves and sun caressing our salted skin. We smell bergamot, crisp orange zest, and a hint of blue cypress, driving us onwards along the mysterious but clearly marked trail. ‘Lilium;’ the word is etched on our subconscious as we enter a band of trees hiding a blue-green lagoon. Invigorating notes of citrus, coriander, and vetiver flood our olfactory organs as we let go of the final strands of the stresses and anxieties of whatever life stresses and anxieties were plaguing us before this journey.
A cool breeze ruffles our hair, sending goose pimples over our bodies. The evening breaks and the final strands of the pink sunset are being wisped away to make room for the night. Delicate notes of ambergris and tropical flowers mingle with a stronger mineral aroma. As we emerge from the lagoon, we see lights in the distance and feel the hum of bass. Primordial energies dance and play in the moonlight; this is ‘Lovejoy,’ an invitation to an escape within an escape. The dance floor blends seamlessly from the soft sand and we feel our bodies slip away from reality. Shadows dance in firelight, we move to stay warm, we move to stay connected, we move to be as one.
We learn that some of us paid a little extra for the true vinyl experience as we are awoken by gentle sunbeams and a soft salt breeze. We stretch out on crisp clean bed linens; we do not remember how we arrived here but we know all is well. The floral fragrances are interrupted by something out of place but very welcome: breakfast foods. All kinds. Eggs, bacon, crepes, fruit, baked beans, warm toast, blueberry pancakes, sautéed mushrooms and fried green tomatoes, glasses and glasses of whole milk; it’s all here. It’s what we want. It’s what we need. We slither out of our beds and embrace the morning, embrace the life, embrace the ‘Exterrestrial.’ 🍍
