Nocow née Aleksei Nikitin of St. Petersburg is the next to contribute to the Turbo Hits Compendium, providing five new hits to feel and experience and contemplate. We wade into the shallow waters of ‘Never Leave Me,’ thin vocals drone over a suitable but unexciting techno beat fit for a club and a club only; it is cold here in the water, all alone. ‘Back On’ raises the depth of the water a bit, polyrhythms and simple melodies bubble forth like water jets; the water warms but we are still alone. The title track fades in with a gritty sample, the lights cut out and a voice ushers forth more water; our feet no longer reach the bottom of the pool as darkness envelops everything. ‘Soder’ creeps in with a dark energy, a disconcerting vocal sample, and a newfound confidence; a strobe light pulses and we are no longer alone. ‘Starfall’ builds tension from the darkness, energy and vision connecting to a playful effect; the water is just right, we are content to exist. A negligible start has given way to depth and emotion that in turn projects on to its beginning insightfully.🍍
