July 3, 2020 - Self-released
Nice Job Nnamdï. Krazy Karl is not an easy person to pin down. I have no idea what qualities he would have. Fittingly, neither is Krazy Karl an easy album to pin down. Even experiencing its qualities first-hand, they are difficult to name. Each song is a moving target. This self-released non-genre exploration of reverse-engineered collage-rock eschews all through-lines, which has forced my hand in employing many hyphen-heavy compound modifiers to locate what’s going on here.
Blending rock-ballads and Disney-compositional moments of xylophone layering, campiness and avantgarde approaching the ineffable, Nnamdï has created a high-energy gestalt of something lightly magical and ungrounded yet understandable and less challenging on the ears than one expects even while listening. We may very well have a Rorschach of sound on our hands here. Find what you will, for many things are alive and waiting to be uncovered. ⛰️
